G. ANACKER and E. GERNAND
On the basis of genetical parameters published in the first contibution breeding values for different claw characteristics have been estimated. six characteristics of the front and rear legs have been regarded. The differences between bulls with low breeding values and high breeding values are very high in all characteristics. Relationsship were found between breeding values from own performance testing and progeny testing in different characteristics. It is possible to improve claw health and the survival rate by using claw characteristics in the selection of young bulls.
