HACCP programme in pig housing – critical control points (CCP) in relation to animal health
St. Hoy, E. von Borell, Th. Richter and A. Sundrum
Critical control points (CCP) and control intervals for on-farm assessment of pig housing on all levels of production (farrowing, mating, gestation, weaning and fattening) are suggested. The critical control points are aimed at self-control by the farmer but can also be used for audits or inspections (e.g. by third-party auditors or state veterinarians). The CCP have to be controlled on a regular basis (daily, before introduction of pigs into the housing system, or after specific indications). By this way, risks for animal health can be assessed and analysed and measures taken to reduce the risks.
