Dynamic adaptation of “MS-SowPerf+” to
farm-specific performance variability:
A simulation-based approach

Based on the previously developed management tool, MS-SowPerf+, for performance assessment and replacement recommendations in lactating sows, a simulation study was conducted to evaluate its applicability and adaptability to different herd performance levels. Two evaluation datasets with high- and low-performance level, each comprising 300 litters, were created for this purpose. The results demonstrate that repeated application enhances the learning progress and leads to correct performance categorization in over 90% of cases. For practical implementation, an initial learning phase is required.
