Development, status und perspectives of research in the field of animal production in the Federal Republic of Germany – viewed in a flashback of an article in Züchtungskunde from 1980

Based on a special issue of „Züchtungskunde“, which has been edited on the occasion of the EAAP – Annual Meeting 1980 in Munich, research perspectives in the field of animal housing and management are discussed. Since 1980, many changes, optimizations and innovations have taken place. These developments, to a large extent, have been initiated and achieved by the application of relevant research results. This requires the adequate transfer of knowledge from science into practice. Therefore, the „Deutsche Gesellschaft für Züchtungskunde“ promotes interdisciplinary research strategies and activities as well as fruitful cooperation between animal science and practice of animal production.
